چکیده

The focus of our paper is on superposed and perprocess performance evaluation of network node in terms of losses, delays and jitter. We consider the case of discrete-time queuing system, which is fed by finite superposition of discretetime batch Markovian arrival processes (D-BMAPs), and denoted in Kendall’s notation by P D-BMAP/D/1/K. Given such system we obtain probability distribution functions of number of lost packets, delay of arbitrary packet and jitter for both superposed and single arrival processes. These performance parameters describe the quality of service (QoS) provided by the network node to aggregated variable bit rate (VBR) traffic stream and particular VBR traffic stream in presence of background VBR traffic with the same priority. It should be noted that analytical solution of P D-BMAP/D/1/K have received a little attention in recent literature. Our purpose is to extend those works to the general case of D-BMAP arrival process and give results applicable to all particular instances of D-BMAP.

Delay in UMTS Radio Access Networks: Analytical Study and Validation

This paper deals with the delay analysis of the traffic within the UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN). Delay is a very important Quality of Service aspect in the UTRAN. Especially, the delay over the Iub link is the major limited factor for the dimensioning of the UTRAN. Based on the system analysis, a queuing model is proposed in this paper to derive the delay time over the Iub inte...

Diffusion Process for GX/G/M Queuing System with Balking and Reneging

In the present investigation transient, G x/G/m queuing model with balking and reneging has been studied. The diffusion process with elementary return boundary has been used for modeling purpose. The probability density function (p. d. f.) for the number of customers in the system has been obtained. In special case, the steady state results that tally with those of Kimura and Ohsone have been e...

Characterizing Reservation Management for Media Gateway Controller (Performance and Reliability)

In this paper, analysis and simulation of Media Gateway Controller (MEGACO) based COPS (Common Open Policy Server) which is a protocol defined in IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to transport configuration requests and deliver the policies is presented. For this scenario, three queuing models include M/M/1, M/M/c and M/D/c were applied . Then, some of the key performance benchmarks look l...

Transient Analysis of the D-BMAP/G/1 Queue with an Application to the Dimensioning of a Playout Buffer for VBR Video

In this paper the D-BMAP/G/1 queue is considered. The goal is to derive an explicit expression for the transform of the queueing delay of the nth arriving customer, based on a transient analysis. While deriving this transform, intermediate results such as an explicit expression for the transform of the probability of having an empty system at the nth departure, are also obtained. These results ...
